HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BRAKES CHECKED THIS SEASON??
Brakes are a normal wear item for any vehicle and will eventually need replacing. Many factors affect brake wear, like driving habits, operating conditions and vehicle type.
Brakes work by creating friction to slow and stop your vehicle. Every
time
you depress the brake pedal, the brake shoes or pads rub against the
drums or
discs, causing wear. So it's essential to have your brakes inspected
regularly
usually every six months or 10,000 km. We firmly believe in
preventative maintenance, and by keeping up with your regular scheduled
maintenance's, a brake inspection is included in this service
eliminating a separate appointment just to have your brakes inspected.
You may need to have your brakes inspected if:
Having a smooth surface in your brake rotor is critical for optimal
brake and vehicle performance. If you notice your vehicle shaking when
the brakes are applied, call and have it serviced as soon as possible
because when addressed promptly, our Goodwrench technicians can
machine or resurface your brake rotors (within spec) to prevent further
damage. Continuing to drive with worn-out brake rotors could result
in a costly brake repair.
Having a badly worn brake pad such as this on will cause a squealing
noise every time the brakes are applied as there is metal rubbing on
metal!!
A brake pad should have a smooth surface. Most brake pads have built-in wear indicators that make a high-pitched
warning sound when the brake pads are worn and new pads are needed. This brake
wear warning sound means that soon the brakes will not work well. Call to have
your vehicle serviced. Continuing to drive with worn-out brake pads could result
in a costly brake repair. There are many different types of replacement brake components out in the marketplace. In fact, there are no mandatory standards for replacement brake parts. So, what do you need to know to make your decision?
Quality brake parts will perform better and provide greater customer satisfaction.
You get what you pay for and with brake replacement parts, this couldn't be more accurate. The best replacement parts money can buy are original equipment (OE) parts.
If you don't want to pay a premium for Original Equipment brakes, then look for the D3EA® certification stamp on your replacement brake components.
D3EA® certification establishes brake component output performance consistent with Motor Vehicle Safety Standards braking requirements for new vehicles.
D3EA® measures both the front and rear braking system specific friction performance of brake shoes, pads, drums and rotors.
Product that achieve D3EA® certification and carry the D3EA® seal must be tested and re-qualified every two years.
To start, ACDelco Brakes are D3EA® certified.
