Are you looking for a small crossover SUV that’s big on functionality and features? If so, the 2017 GMC Terrain is the vehicle for you. This ride features a powerful engine and optimal safety, available for prices to meet the budget of any Lloydminster or Sherwood Park driver. Five trim levels offer an incredible amount of versatility. Come to Westridge Buick GMC to test out the compact crossover yourself. Let’s see just how impressive it is compared to other similar vehicles, like the 2017 Subaru Outback.
The 2017 Subaru Outback offers six upgradable trims, including 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 3.6R Limited, 2.5i Touring, and 3.6 Touring. The 2017 GMC Terrain is available in a selection of five trims: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT, and Denali.
The 2017 GMC Terrain provides optimal performance at any trim. Each model is equipped with a standard 2.4L 4-cylinder VVT engine with Direct Injection, as well as an automatic transmission. This vehicle can unleash 182 hp and 172-lb-ft of torque. Fuel-saving ECO mode makes for great fuel efficiency. For even more power, Lloydminster and Sherwood Park drivers can upgrade to all-wheel drive and a 301-hp 3.6L V6 engine.
The 2017 Subaru Outback includes a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with Sequential Multi-Port Injection. Total output for the Outback’s 2.5L engine is 175 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. While the Outback’s engine is quite similar to that of the GMC Terrain, it produces less horsepower and lacks the addition of a smooth and seamless automatic transmission.
Tech and Entertainment
In the infotainment department, the Terrain and Outback wow with MP3 capability, a USB connection, a Bluetooth handsfree calling interface, and an optional navigation system. For additional upgrades, an optional Technology Package is available for select Terrain and Outback trim levels. Unlike the Outback, however, the Terrain comes equipped with six strategically placed speakers, as well as a 178-millimetre central touchscreen. Listening to your favorite tunes in high quality, scrolling through Bluetooth phonebooks, or planning the quickest route are made easier inside the 2017 GMC Terrain.
Despite their compact sizes, the Terrain and Outback don’t sacrifice safety and security. Multiple airbags, keyless entry, child seat anchors, and safety locks offer maximum security, while a rearview camera will help you avoid collisions during reversing.
Out of the two crossovers, however, only the Terrain features OnStar telematics, which includes Automatic Crash Response, Roadside Assistance, and Remote Door Unlock. To access the Outback’s equivalent – Starlink Connected Services – you’ll have to upgrade to the Premium or Limited trim, and purchase the Safety Plus and Security Plus Packages.
