GM Officially Achieved Global Sales Record for 2015
GM vehicles have been popular for years because of their cutting-edge features, reliability, and noteworthy performance. Here at Westridge Buick GMC, we’re not surprised to learn about the GM global sales record for the 2015 calendar year. In 2015, 9.84 million new vehicles were sold globally, making it possible for the automaker to beat their record from the year prior by 0.2 percent, and proudly achieve record sales for the third year in a row.
Details on GM’s Success
GM President, Dan Ammann, gave a statement on this feat, saying, “GM continued to grow in 2015 as our focus on the customer and successful new vehicle launches more than offset the challenging conditions in South America and the curtailment of our presence in certain markets such as Russia.”
In North America, GM was able to increase its sales by 6 percent in 2015 and sell 3.6 million sedans, crossovers, and trucks. In the U.S. market, the automaker expanded its retail sales by 5 percent and sold vehicles to individual customers faster than any other auto manufacturer. This jump in sales in the U.S. was prompted by the popularity of vehicles such as the Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado, and the GMC Sierra.
GM was also able to thrive in China because the company sold the right vehicles at the right time. Sales in China increased by 5 percent from 2014 as GM sold a record of 3.6 million vehicles in this country. The debut of 12 new and updated models is one of the main reasons they were able to dominate the Chinese market. Some of these new well-admired vehicles in China include the Baojun 560 and the Buick Envision.
